This project is read-only.

Out of the box, Orchard CMS only provides email messaging, by installing this module it will give the same functionality but the messages are delivered via SMS. The module hooks into the Rules Module to allow SMS notifications.

What is SMS?

Short Message Service (SMS) is a text messaging service component of phone, web, or mobile communication systems, using standardized communications protocols that allow the exchange of short text messages between fixed line or mobile phone devices. - Wikipedia

Getting Started

1. Install and enable the module

First install the module from the Orchard CMS Module Gallery: or download from the source code here on Codeplex. Once installed, go into the Modules section of the Admin area of the CMS and click enable on the module.

2. Sign up for a free Twilio account

Go to and sign up for a new account - you'll be given some funds for development. Next, purchase a number. This number will be where the SMS's will be delivered from. It's important that this is a Twilio number - you can't use your existing mobile number to spoof the message.

3. Change the settings

Copy the AccountSID, Auth Token and recently purchased number into the SMS settings within the Orchard admin area.

4. Try it out

Give it a whirl. Create a rule based on an event; e.g when a new comment has been added. When the module was enabled a Mobile Number property was added to the user part making it really easy to SMS users of the system. Alternatively you can add a number directly or multiple numbers seprated by a comma.
